ANTI RAGGING AND STUDENT SAFETY POLICY

Students Wellbeing Foundation of India (SWFOI)

 

1. Policy Statement

Students Wellbeing Foundation of India (SWFOI) maintains a zero tolerance approach towards ragging harassment bullying intimidation discrimination and any form of unsafe behaviour affecting students.

Student safety dignity and wellbeing are non negotiable values at SWFOI.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to

• Students seeking support
• Members volunteers and leaders
• Participants of SWFOI programs events or platforms
• Online and offline interactions linked to SWFOI

The policy applies across India only.

3. What Constitutes Ragging and Unsafe Behaviour

Ragging or unsafe behaviour includes but is not limited to

• Physical abuse or threats
• Verbal abuse humiliation or intimidation
• Psychological or emotional harassment
• Forced activities or coercion
• Cyber bullying stalking or online harassment
• Discrimination based on gender caste religion region language or background

Any behaviour that compromises student safety dignity or mental wellbeing is considered a serious violation.

4. SWFOI Role and Limitations

SWFOI provides

• Guidance
• Awareness
• Coordination support
• Direction towards appropriate authorities

SWFOI does not act as
• A law enforcement body
• A disciplinary authority of educational institutions
• A replacement for police medical or legal services

In cases of immediate danger students are advised to contact emergency services or institutional authorities directly.

5. Prevention and Awareness

SWFOI works towards student safety through

• Awareness campaigns
• Educational workshops
• Online resources
• Guidance on rights and reporting mechanisms

Preventive efforts are based on best effort and resource availability.

6. Reporting Ragging or Safety Concerns

Students or individuals may report concerns related to

• Ragging incidents
• Harassment or threats
• Unsafe environments
• Fear of harm

Reports can be made through SWFOI communication channels.

SWFOI will review information shared and determine appropriate guidance or escalation.

7. Confidentiality and Disclosure

SWFOI will handle reports with sensitivity.

However confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where
• There is a risk to life or safety
• Legal disclosure is required
• Authorities need to be informed

8. Action and Support

Upon receiving a report SWFOI may

• Provide guidance and emotional support
• Share information on formal complaint mechanisms
• Assist in coordination where appropriate
• Restrict access to SWFOI platforms for violators
• Terminate membership or volunteer roles

All actions are taken at SWFOI discretion.

9. No Guarantee of Outcome

While SWFOI aims to support students
• Resolution depends on institutional or legal authorities
• Outcomes cannot be guaranteed
• Timelines may vary

10. Misuse of Policy

False malicious or misleading complaints are taken seriously.

SWFOI reserves the right to take action against misuse including termination of association.

11. Limitation of Liability

SWFOI shall not be held liable for

• Actions taken by educational institutions
• Law enforcement or third parties
• Outcomes arising from guidance provided
• Delay or non resolution of cases

Engagement with SWFOI is voluntary and at individual discretion.

12. Policy Review

SWFOI may revise this policy at any time without prior notice.
The latest version published on the website shall be final and binding.
