WOMEN SAFETY AND POSH AWARENESS POLICY

Students Wellbeing Foundation of India (SWFOI)

 

1. Policy Statement

Students Wellbeing Foundation of India (SWFOI) is committed to promoting a safe respectful and inclusive environment for women and girls across all its programs platforms and interactions.

SWFOI follows a zero tolerance approach towards sexual harassment abuse discrimination intimidation or any behaviour that compromises dignity safety or wellbeing.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to

• Women students seeking support
• Members volunteers and leaders
• Participants of SWFOI programs events and platforms
• Online and offline interactions connected with SWFOI

This policy applies within India only.

3. Understanding POSH

POSH refers to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment principles aimed at creating awareness preventing misconduct and promoting respectful behaviour.

Sexual harassment may include but is not limited to

• Unwelcome physical contact or advances
• Sexually coloured remarks comments or jokes
• Requests or demands for favours
• Showing or sharing inappropriate content
• Online harassment stalking or intimidation
• Any conduct that makes a woman feel unsafe uncomfortable or humiliated

4. SWFOI Role and Limitations

SWFOI provides

• Awareness and education
• Guidance and emotional support
• Information on reporting mechanisms
• Coordination support where appropriate

SWFOI does not act as
• A law enforcement authority
• A judicial body
• An employer under POSH law
• A substitute for police legal or medical services

In cases of immediate danger individuals are advised to contact emergency services or appropriate authorities directly.

5. Awareness and Prevention

SWFOI promotes women safety through

• POSH awareness sessions
• Online resources and guidance
• Community education initiatives
• Encouraging respectful conduct

All efforts are based on best effort and resource availability.

6. Reporting Safety Concerns

Women may report concerns related to

• Sexual harassment
• Abuse or intimidation
• Unsafe environments
• Online or offline misconduct

Reports can be shared through SWFOI communication channels.

SWFOI will review the information and decide the appropriate course of action.

7. Confidentiality

SWFOI treats all reports with sensitivity and care.

However confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where
• There is a risk to life or safety
• Disclosure is required by law
• Authorities must be informed

8. Action and Support

Based on the nature of the concern SWFOI may

• Provide guidance and emotional support
• Share information about formal complaint processes
• Assist with coordination where appropriate
• Restrict access to SWFOI platforms
• Suspend or terminate membership or volunteer roles

All decisions are taken at SWFOI discretion.

9. No Guarantee of Outcome

SWFOI aims to support women to the best of its ability.

However
• Outcomes depend on external authorities
• Resolution timelines may vary
• Specific results cannot be guaranteed

10. Misuse of Policy

False malicious or misleading complaints are taken seriously.

SWFOI reserves the right to take action against misuse including termination of association.

11. Limitation of Liability

SWFOI shall not be held liable for

• Actions taken by institutions employers or authorities
• Outcomes of third party interventions
• Consequences arising from reliance on guidance

Engagement with SWFOI is voluntary and at individual discretion.

12. Policy Review

SWFOI may revise this policy at any time without prior notice.
The latest version published on the website shall be final and binding.
